Oct. 22, 2006- My Own Toilet
Oil on Primed Paper
Approximately: 10"X8"
I've had several very unsuccessful painting days in a row. Somehow I'm not feeling bad about it, I feel I have made some sort of progress. After Glenn repeatedly suggested I paint on paper, I tried it. It is nice.
It drys really fast, it smears around really nice- hey! it acts just like guache. Or even acrylic.
So why oil on paper? If I could paint like this I would try and save my health and just paint with something water soluble. Why in the world would I want oil paint to act like this???

I did these two strange little landscapes...
They are oil on canvas, about 20X8inches each.
I also went to life drawing last night and did a bunch of drawings like these.

Another Small Painting of Anne
10X8inches, Oil on Board
Framed $100
Again I did a small one from an older big one.
Check out my Flickr Page to see the painting I worked from. They are 15 minute poses on 2'X4' boards.
This is also just the two(three) color study. Burnt Sienna, Cobalt, and lots of white.
Hey we're going camping! I'll post again next week.

October 12, 2006, Small Sketch of Anne
Oil on Board, 10X8
Framed $100
I'm reading a book I found at a used book store on figure painting. It's a very old-school book and it has old timey exercises in it. It's from the olden days when painters wore dressy clothes while they painted naked people.
So this is a two-color oil sketch exercise I did from the book. I could find no naked girls, so I found an old, UNSUCCESSFUL painting I did long ago and painted from it. I got a painting I didn't like so that my little mind would have to be creative in order to make it look good and I wouldn't find myself copying.
The colors are cobalt and burnt sienna. And lots of white, apparently you don't have to count white.

Hudi the Dog
5x7, Oil on Board
Framed: $100
Here's what my frames look like- click here.
This is Hudi (he is named after Yehudi Menuhin-not Hootie and the Blowfish- he is extremly sensitive about that).
He really does sit like this but never for long. He is a terrible model because of his constant fidgetting. However, I have painted him a million times so I was able to do this from quick sketches, memory, and several similar poses that he held throughout the day.
